Description:

This architecturally unique structure is a wonderful, contemporary addition to Salt Lake City's skyline. A six-story curved wall that also functions as a walkway provides sweeping views of the Wasatch Range and leads to a rooftop garden. At ground level is a plaza with shops and a cafe. Other features of the 240,000-square-foot building include reading galleries, spiraling fireplaces and 300-seat auditorium. The Urban Room between the library and the curved wall is a space for all seasons, with magnificent views and an abundance of natural light.

The library's collection includes more than 80,000 items. There is a comprehensive children's library complete with multimedia equipment, craft and story rooms and cozy niches like "Grandmother's Attic," complete with wood floors and a trunk filled with dress-up clothes. The Canteena area appeals to teens with literature, media and an environment just for this age group.
