Description:
The Scene
The dining room is modest and rustic but comfortable. The lunch buffet is popular with downtown business people, but dress is casual any time of day. Come in on Friday or Saturday night and you'll be treated to a belly-dance show.
The Food
Order the meza (appetizer) combination to sample several different Middle Eastern flavors and textures. The tabbouleh--chopped parsley, tomatoes, green onions and bulgur wheat mixed with olive oil and lemon juice--is full of flavor and is a nice contrast to the smooth, garlicky hummus. Sarma (grape leaves stuffed with rice, onions and spices) have a nice hint of nutmeg and cinnamon. The falafel is packed with flavor, but tends to be a bit on the dry, crumbly side. If you're looking for a tasty, meatless entree, try the cheese beurek--feta cheese layered with phyllo dough--with rice and your choice of soup or salad.
